The word “social” is not a dirty word in social media

It has a huge emphasis in the workplace and there are still a heck of managers and directors that don’t understand its place. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it’s costing your company great Talent.

Gone are the days when you would place an ad in the Herald or countless job boards and hundreds of applicants would apply looking for a job. It’s a candidates market and has been for a while, and hard to find Talent is being approached on opportunities left right and center.

So guess what? The opportunities are coming their way. Candidates no longer have to look at the employment section in the Sunday paper or countless job boards online.

Don’t misquote what I am saying; some Talent will certainly always come through job boards but not ENOUGH of it. And if you’re trying to grow a business it’s imperative you have great people, people even better than you.

Well it’s not easy, you need to tap into their world and be interesting enough for them to take note, and when I say take note I don’t mean ram their heads with job ads via social media all day. I mean build a relationship, engage with them, and give them something interesting, something that will make them take notice of you.
